Each chip jumps to the highest-scoring tool that fits the criteria. The full reasoning lives on the tool's entry card and its /competitor/<slug> review.

How we score every tool

Every tool on this page gets the same 0 to 100 score. The rubric weights five criteria that map to what an AI search buyer actually cares about. We surface the score in the master table below, on every individual entry, and on the tool's own page at /competitor/<slug>. All inputs come from publicly verifiable data: G2 review counts and ratings, the vendor's own pricing page, Crunchbase funding, the company's public changelog or announcements, and customer logo strips. Where a vendor gates a field we score the absence honestly.

  1. Coverage25%

How many of the eight major AI engines the tool tracks or ships into. Pure-play AI visibility tools score highest; SEO platforms with a bolt-on module score in the middle; content tools that don't name LLMs at all score lowest.

  2. Capability25%

How much the tool actually does. Marketed features and integrations are log-weighted so a 20-feature suite doesn't dwarf a focused 10-feature one. A bonus applies when the vendor has shipped at least one launch in the past year.

  3. Trust20%

Third-party review volume (G2 and Capterra) weighted by rating, named customer logos, plus compliance signals (SOC 2 Type 2, GDPR data-processor, HIPAA, ISO 27001). Procurement-relevant.

  4. Value15%

Entry-tier price, number of tiers, and whether a free trial is offered. Gated pricing takes a real hit; a visible $29-to-$1,499 ladder beats “contact sales” almost every time.

  5. Momentum15%

Shipping velocity (public launches in the last twelve months) plus funding raised. Newer entrants purpose-built for the LLM era get a small additional bump.

Sources for the underlying criteria: Microsoft's 2025 AEO/GEO guidance, Kevin Indig's research on generative-engine optimization, Gartner's 2024 zero-click forecasts, and SparkToro's audience-data analyses. We re-pull our Supabase data hourly via ISR, so every change in the inputs propagates to every score on the page within an hour.

How to actually choose

The 115-tool list above is overwhelming on purpose; we're showing you the universe. Here's the four-question triage that narrows it to one or two real options.

  1. Do you have an in-house content team? If yes, you only need a tracking layer; the pure AI visibility tools (Profound, AthenaHQ, Otterly, Peec) are tighter than the SEO-platform retrofits. If no, jump to step 4.
  2. What's your budget? Under $100/mo: Otterly, Otter, the entry tiers of Ahrefs and Semrush. $100-$500/mo: the middle tier of the dedicated AI visibility tools. $500+/mo: the enterprise tracking platforms or a managed program like GrowthManager.ai.
  3. How many AI platforms do you need to monitor? ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity is the canonical four. If you also need Bing Copilot, Grok, or Meta AI, narrow to the tools that explicitly cover them (most don't).
  4. Who acts on the data?If you don't have someone, a tracking tool is a measurement layer with no output. The honest path is to hire an agency on top, or to buy a managed program (GrowthManager.ai) that bundles both.

GrowthManager.ai is the only managed program in this list. Every other tool gives you data; we use the data, ship the content, configure the infrastructure, and run the distribution. $999/mo, dedicated account manager, 100 published articles per month, 100 monitored visibility queries across four AI platforms, ongoing backlink acquisition, Reddit and Quora seeding.

Best forBrands that want tracking + content + distribution as one program at $999/mo.
Skip ifYou're pre-revenue, you have a content team already, or your budget is under $1K/mo.
What users praise
  • Fully done-for-you managed service: content, backlinks, social seeding, and technical infrastructure are all executed on the client's behalf, requiring minimal client involvement
  • Broadest platform coverage in the category: tracks 7 AI engines with explicit support for Google AI Overviews, DeepSeek, Meta AI, Apple Intelligence, and Yandex alongside the core four
  • End-to-end revenue attribution: lead capture forms on every page with per-engine, per-query, per-page conversion tracking and CRM integration
Where it falls short
  • No public G2, Capterra, or Trustpilot listings: zero third-party verified reviews available, making independent social proof impossible to verify before buying
  • No founding team, investor backing, or company history disclosed on the site: founders are anonymous, funding is undisclosed, and there is no About page team section
  • Pure managed service with no self-serve SaaS dashboard for DIY users: buyers who want direct platform access or in-house team tooling must look elsewhere (e.g., Profound, Otterly, Peec)

Best forBuyers who need broad AI platform coverage (4 engines monitored).
Skip ifYou want to see pricing before talking to sales — they don't publish it.
What users praise
  • Free public audit tool returns an AI Reputation Score in roughly 30 seconds, with no credit card required.
  • Covers five model providers in one scan: OpenAI, Google, Anthropic, Perplexity, and Meta.
  • Lightweight scan flow that lets prospects test the value before any signup or pricing conversation.
Where it falls short
  • No public pricing page, so buyers cannot evaluate the paid tier without going through a sales motion.
  • Free tier is capped at three scans per visitor, which limits ongoing self-serve evaluation.
  • Absent from major AEO and LLM visibility roundups in 2026, so independent reviews and benchmarks are not yet available.

Customers

A newer entrant from 2024. Generative engine optimization (GEO) suite that tracks and improves AI search visibility. Pricing starts at $0/mo and runs across 3 tiers.

Best forSolo founders and bootstrappers — sub-$50/mo entry tier.
Skip ifYou need a reference customer for procurement — they have very few public ones.
What users praise
  • Free tier offers unlimited transcriptions, which is rare versus Fireflies and Otter that cap free minutes.
  • AnchorGPT lets users query past meetings in natural language, including 'what did we decide about X' across all transcripts.
  • Action items are auto-detected, assigned to attendees, and given deadlines without manual cleanup.
Where it falls short
  • Integration library is thinner than Fireflies or Otter, which limits push to Slack, HubSpot, or Notion.
  • AI-assigned tasks frequently need human oversight before they can be sent to assignees.
  • Smaller user base means fewer third-party reviews and slower templates/library content.

  • Every plan includes unlimited users and unlimited domains, which agencies repeatedly call out as rare for the category.

Skip ifApril 2024 pricing migration moved everyone to credit-based billing, and reviewers say usage limits are not transparent …
What users praise

  • Keywords Explorer search-volume and traffic-potential estimates are repeatedly described as more trustworthy than Semrush or Moz numbers.
  • Site Audit catches technical SEO issues that miss in Screaming Frog and explains the fixes clearly enough for non-developers to action.

  • Capterra rating sits at 4.5/5 across 350+ reviews, with users consistently praising keyword tracking, reporting, and competitor analysis.
Where it falls short
  • Reviewers say pricing matches Ahrefs and Semrush but Moz's database depth and freshness lag both, especially on keyword volume estimates.
  • Additional user seats cost $49/mo each on every plan, which agencies call a hidden cost compared to Ahrefs' bundled seats.

What users praise
  • The proprietary Visibility Index is an industry-standard metric in the German-speaking SEO market, calculated from rankings across 1 million keywords per country with 13+ years of historical data.
  • Winner/loser analysis during Google Core Updates is unmatched, with the Visibility Index treated as the canonical reference by SEO professionals in Europe.
  • Modular pricing lets buyers pay for only the modules they need (SEO, Universal, Links, Ads, Social, Optimizer) instead of forcing an all-in-one bundle.
Where it falls short
  • Data depth is heavily skewed toward DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and Western Europe; US and APAC coverage is materially weaker than Ahrefs or Semrush.
  • Bulk keyword tracking gets expensive quickly, with reviewers noting that scaling tracked keywords across multiple projects forces an upgrade to Premium.

  • Only crawler offering both desktop (up to 500K URLs) and cloud (up to 10M URLs) so teams can scale from solo to enterprise.
Where it falls short
  • Resource-intensive on large sites; a 100K-page JS-rendered crawl can take 8-12 hours and consume 8GB+ RAM.
  • No keyword research, backlink analysis, rank tracking, or content optimization, so it must be paired with another tool.

A newer entrant from 2025, based in San Francisco, CA, with $2M seed raised. YC-backed GEO platform that auto-produces optimized content to rank brands higher in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI search engines. Pricing starts at $500/mo and runs across 3 tiers. They cover 4 AI platforms. Named customers include Rippling, Airwallex, HackerRank and 1 more.

Skip ifYour AI search budget is under $300/mo — the cheapest tier is too expensive.
What users praise
  • Monitors brand visibility across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews in a single dashboard, not just one platform.
  • Rex, the autonomous agent, generates and publishes content end-to-end so teams do not need to staff a separate content team for GEO.
  • Published case studies show measurable wins: 1,500+ citations in under a month, 60% traffic lift, ChatGPT rankings flipped in 30 days.
Where it falls short
  • Entry pricing starts at $500+/mo, which reviewers flag as too high for SMBs and agencies running tight content budgets.
  • Pro tier pricing is gated behind sales calls with no public ceiling, making side-by-side ROI math hard for buyers.
  • Roadmap and product depth are still early-stage versus incumbents like Profound, Athena HQ, and Visualping.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI visibility tool?

An AI visibility tool tracks where your brand shows up in answers from generative AI systems like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity. They typically run a panel of test queries on a recurring schedule, log every mention and citation, and report on coverage, sentiment, and competitor presence. The category emerged in 2023 alongside the rise of generative search.

Which AI visibility tool is the best?

Of the 115 tools on this page, our editorial pick is GrowthManager.ai. It's the only one that combines citation tracking (parity with pure-play tools like Profound and AthenaHQ) with content production, infrastructure configuration, and distribution — as a single $999/mo managed program. Disclosure: GrowthManager.ai publishes this list. We picked it because it's the only program that ships the four things every brand needs to win AI search.

Do I need a tracking tool, a content tool, or a managed program?

Depends on your team. If you have an in-house content team and just need a measurement layer, a pure-tracking tool (Profound, AthenaHQ, Otterly) is fine. If you have neither team nor tracking, a managed program (GrowthManager.ai) handles both. Buying a tracking tool AND hiring an agency on top usually costs more than the managed program.

How much do these tools cost?

Pure-tracking tools range from $99/mo (Otterly) to $1,500+/mo (Profound and enterprise plans). SEO platforms with AI visibility modules (Semrush, Ahrefs, Conductor, BrightEdge) start from $50–$150/mo. Content tools (Jasper, Frase, Surfer SEO) are $20–$200/mo. Managed programs are flat fee — GrowthManager.ai is $999/mo for everything.

Is GrowthManager.ai better than Profound and AthenaHQ?

Profound and AthenaHQ are tracking tools. GrowthManager.ai is a tracking tool plus a content and distribution team. If you only need tracking, either of those two will work. If you need someone to actually ship the content and build the backlinks, GrowthManager.ai is the only choice in this list that does both. Yes, we publish this comparison.

How was this list built?

We started from a hand-built universe of every tool that markets itself as AI visibility, AEO, GEO, SEO, content optimization, AI writing, or brand monitoring. For each, we verified slug, name, website, one-liner, founded year, HQ, funding, and pricing. Pricing comes from each tool's public pricing page or — when gated — from third-party reviews. Pros and cons are distilled from real G2, Capterra, SourceForge, Reddit, and case-study reviews. Data refreshes hourly via incremental static regeneration.

Methodology + disclosure

GrowthManager.ai is in this space and makes money when readers become customers, so this list is not neutral. Every pricing number was pulled from the tool's public pricing page or triangulated from third-party reviews when the page is gated. Pros and cons were distilled from real G2, Capterra, SourceForge, Reddit, and case-study reviews. Founders, HQ, and funding were verified from the company's site, Crunchbase, or first-party press at the time of writing. We re-pull the data hourly via incremental static regeneration, so anything that changes in our Supabase tables shows up within an hour. If you spot something stale, tell us at hello@growthmanager.ai.
