Altura Alfama
Twelve rooms above the terracotta rooftops.

Altura Alfama is a twelve-room house tucked into one of Lisbon's oldest neighborhoods. A restored eighteenth-century townhouse with original azulejo tilework, wrought-iron balconies, and a rooftop terrace that opens to the Tagus. Walk-in distance to São Jorge Castle, the Fado houses of Alfama, and the tram-28 route.
Arroz de marisco from our rooftop kitchen, rice simmered in fish stock with clams, prawns, and monkfish sourced from the Cais do Sodré market at sunrise.
A restored 1780s azulejo panel in the ground-floor salon, unearthed during the 2017 renovation and preserved under conservation-grade glass.

What guests took home.
“I book boutique hotels hoping the concierge is a real person, not a rack of brochures. At Altura Alfama the GM delivered espresso herself the first morning, asked two questions about what I wanted, and drew me a map. I ate at both cafes. I left my walking shoes in Lisbon on purpose so I would come back sooner.”
“Traveling with two kids and a baby. Altura Alfama is small, 12 rooms, and they made it feel like a house where we happened to be guests. The breakfast team remembered our kids by name on day two; that mattered more than any amenity. We are coming back next summer, already booked.”
