Roma Norte
Roma Norte is the answer to 'where should I stay in Mexico City' almost every time. Tree-lined streets, art-deco architecture, independent design shops, and the single densest concentration of interesting restaurants in the city. Here's our three-day walking version.
Day one, food and Mercado Medellín
Breakfast at Panaderia Rosetta. Mid-morning at Mercado Medellín, our hotel's primary sourcing market. Lunch at Máximo Bistrot. In the afternoon, walk the tree-lined streets around Parque México and Plaza Río de Janeiro. Dinner at Contramar in the neighboring Roma Norte, reserved well in advance.
Day two, the museum circuit
Start at the Museo Nacional de Antropología. Lunch at Quintonil or Pujol, both Michelin-listed and both requiring reservations made weeks ahead. Afternoon walking Polanco's gallery district. Evening back in Roma Norte for drinks at Licoreria Limantour and mezcal at our own bar.
Day three, day trip to Teotihuacán
If you haven't seen the pyramids, go. An hour's drive, three-hour walk, incredible sunrise light at the Pyramid of the Moon. We arrange transportation and a local archaeologist who narrates the site in a way that the guidebooks don't.
