Traditional tea ceremony in an eight-tatami room.
The tea house at Altura Higashiyama is a detached eight-tatami room built to traditional specifications, hosting full tea ceremonies by appointment. Our tea master trained at Urasenke and has led ceremonies at Tokyo's Teien and Imperial Hotels.
The ceremony
Full ryū-rei seated ceremony, ninety minutes, up to four guests. Booking at least two weeks in advance, ideally at check-in. The ceremony is held in Japanese with English commentary afterward.
