GEO

Also known as: Generative Engine Optimization

Generative Engine Optimization is the practice of getting your brand cited inside AI-generated answers from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and similar engines. It is the AI-era successor to ranking on Google.

How does GEO affect your AI visibility?

Traditional SEO optimizes for a ranked list of blue links. GEO optimizes for being one of the handful of sources an AI engine chooses to cite when it synthesizes a single answer. The mechanics overlap with SEO, so schema, fast pages, internal linking, and authoritative content still matter, but GEO adds new surfaces on top: an llms.txt file, citation-ready content blocks, and tracking your share of citations across several AI platforms at once.

The reason it matters is simple. When a buyer asks ChatGPT or Perplexity for the best option in your category, the engine names two or three brands and stops. If you are not one of them, the buyer never sees you, and there is no second page to rank on. GEO is the work of making sure you are one of the names that gets said.

In practice that means publishing content structured the way engines extract it, earning citations and mentions on the third-party sites those engines trust, and measuring the result query by query. GrowthManager runs that full loop as a managed program: we create the pages, build the off-site signals, and report exactly which queries cite you on which platforms.

The quickest GEO wins for most teams are clean Organization schema on every page, FAQ blocks that mirror how customers actually phrase questions, and a llms.txt that points crawlers to your three or four highest-intent pages. Skip those and even excellent prose gets passed over because the engine cannot extract it cleanly. Pair the publishing work with measurement that names the specific query and the specific platform where you appear, otherwise the program drifts into vanity content with no way to prove a competitive shift.
